Treadlette Tuesday: Elizabeth's Plaid Flannel

Every Tuesday we share projects, inspiration, and ideas for you from our lovely Treadle Yard Goods employees, The Treadlettes!

Check out Elizabeth's latest make! A cute boxy button-up for her 13-year-old kiddo. The pattern is Jalie Florence and the fabric is a super-soft cotton plaid flannel.

She avoided having to do much plaid matching by cutting the back yoke, pockets, and sleeve bands on the bias. It makes your life easier and looks so cute, too!

She of course asked for her kid's input on which color buttons. They answered, all of them, plus this cow!

Because the only thing more fun than digging around in mom's button box is getting to pick the weird ones for your own shirt!

Treadlette Tuesday: Rebecca's Hoodie

It's Treadlette Tuesday, when we share projects, inspiration, and ideas for you from our lovely Treadle Yard Goods employees, The Treadlettes!

Today we're looking at Rebecca's fantastic hoodie!

Rebecca used a double-sided sweater knit and Jalie pattern 2795. She pieced a few extra seams in to save fabric and made a couple fitting tweaks.

But the most exciting detail is that lined hood! Rebecca used an embroidered floral fabric from her stash to create a totally unique design feature!

Plus, she'll be teaching this pattern as a class this winter!

Treadlette Tuesday: Linen Pants

It's Treadlette Tuesday, when we share projects, inspiration, and ideas for you from our lovely Treadle Yard Goods employees, The Treadlettes!

Elizabeth made these cute, simple pants for her 13 year old kid. The fabric is a fun and durable linen/cotton blend that's a perfect bottomweight. Get it here!

The pattern is Jalie pull-on pants 3243. It has a relatively slim fit in the hips for an elastic-waist pant, which is great if you don't like a baggy seat. DO plan to enlarge the pockets, though - both depth and width could use some extra room!

Check out Marina's new Swiss dot blouse!

She used the Friday Patina pattern, which has an adorable collar and two neckline depth options.

Marina worked on the fit of this blouse with several mockups and a wearable test version. It was worth it - she says this is the first time a button-up blouse has fit her without gapping!

Treadlette Tuesday: Laura's vest

It's Treadlette Tuesday, when we share projects, inspiration, and ideas for you from our lovely Treadle Yard Goods employees, The Treadlettes!

Laura made this dapper linen vest for her husband using a natty linen check fabric.

A gorgeous welt pocket is a classic detail.

The back strap with buckle customizes the fit.

Laura used a contrast lining that just peeks out at the edges for an extra fun detail.

Laura used an out-of-print Vogue pattern, but she suggests Vogue 8987 as a current alternative.

Treadlette Tuesday: Rebecca's Remy

It's Treadlette Tuesday, when we share projects, inspiration, and ideas for you from our lovely Treadle Yard Goods employees, The Treadlettes!

You might know by now that Rebecca LOVES the Remy Raglan pattern. I've lost count of how many times she's made it!

This version, on display in the store now, is made from a very interesting linen that has a geometric pattern and a shot weave.

She also added bust darts for a little extra shape and contour in the fit.

Treadlette Tuesday: Michele's Marcy Tilton dress

Today's project comes from our fearless leader, Michele!

She used Marcy Tilton pattern Vogue 9112 and a variety of linen fabrics to make this awesome dress!

Sometimes if you only have a scrap or a remnant of a special fabric, you highlight it like Michele did here. She took the bright linen plaid and combined it with a coordinating solid and a flax-color neutral that makes her unique fabric pop!

Do you like the idea of mixing fabrics? Check out our Collage Dress class!

Treadlette Tuesday: Elizabeth's Indian cotton blouse

It's Treadlette Tuesday, when we share projects, inspiration, and ideas for you from our lovely Treadle Yard Goods employees, The Treadlettes!

Elizabeth (that's me!) made this summer blouse that's her new favorite!

I used all my favorite sewing techniques on this lightweight Indian cotton. French seams are everywhere I could put them and I hand-finished the inner cuffs, collar, and front bands.

The pattern is Butterick 6816. I blended sizes between the bust, waist, and hip and made a full bust adjustment to make this blouse fit me just right!

You can get this awesome fabric here! (and it also comes in this beautiful bittersweet tone!)

I'm already planning another version in a different fabric!
