soft gray prints

Looking for something soft and summery, but bright colors and whimsical patterns just aren't your thing? Take a look at this group of cotton lawn and chambray in elegant grayscale.

Black can look so stark in summer, so why not lighten up your neutrals with a little grey? Add subtle interest with pindots, or choose a floral print with an all-over blend.

Our Summer Sale continues! Stop by and enjoy the discounts on great fabrics!

More new lawns, a project, and a SALE!

We have some silky smooth, lightweight new cotton lawns from Cotton & Steel, in fun summery prints you'll find it hard to resist!

Here is a life philosophy I can get behind!

A Treadle customer recently made a super sweet dress from this octopus print, which she shared on our Facebook page. (psst - go take a look!)

Mary made a soft, cheerful top from another of our Cotton & Steel lawn prints. Using McCall's 7093, she cut the pieces on the cross grain to take advantage of this fabric's border print.

And don't forget, our SUMMER SALE starts today! Enjoy 20% off all fabrics, with selected groups 30-50% off!

EARLY SUMMER SALE!

EARLY SUMMER SALE

JUNE 25 THROUGH JULY 3
Our early summer sale runs Thursday, June 25, through Friday, July 3.  All fabrics will be discounted at least 20% and selected groups are 30 to 50% off.

The sale of the store is still a work in progress. Our banker tells us we won't receive a decision on the financing until late July or early August.  The new owner is eager to take the reins, but for now, I remain your fearless leader and purveyor of all manner of tempting yard goods.  We will keep you posted and are all hopeful that we will be able to make a happy announcement in the near future.

We have many wonderful summer fabrics in stock and invite you to stop by and take advantage of the savings.

With warm regards,

Mary Daley

Forest Friends

We are utterly charmed by this group of coordinating prints, Forest Friends, by Makower UK.

They would of course make a perfectly matched quilt, but adorable dresses for little girls would be another sweet option.

A cool rayon blouse

Here's a sweet rayon blouse for the hot days of summer. It was made by our newest Treadlette Olivia, in Cotton & Steel rayon print.

Olivia used McCall's 7125, a simple blouse pattern with a full, flowing front. A pattern like this needs a very soft, draping fabric to avoid adding bulk, and this rayon print is a perfect choice.

New Trims!

We have some great new additions to our ribbon and trim section. Take a look!

A sweet cotton lace trim doesn't need to be white. Toss a little color in there!

I can never resist polka dots - can you? - especially printed on cream colored cotton.

These contrast-edgestitched ribbons would look great in rows at the hem of a solid-color skirt, or replacing that boring twill tape as a drawstring!

The only thing better than rick rack must be floral printed rick rack!

Use these wired edge ribbons any time you want to make a shape that stays - perfect for big bows that won't get floppy! Or you can simply remove the wire if you need a softer ribbon.

So go ahead and add a little trim!

Printed on silky, flowing cotton lawn, these beautiful fabrics will make stunning blouses, soft dresses, or cool, comfortable skirts.

They're even more amazing in real life. Come take a peek!

MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN

Well, that may be a lofty goal, but we want to help you solve the puzzle of choosing the right pattern for your body and the best fabric for the pattern (or vice versa if you are starting with a specific fabric).  Class discussion will cover choosing the right pattern size, common fit solutions as they pertain to pattern/fabric choice, our favorite patterns and why, and fabric characteristics and their suitability for specific garments.  Appropriate for beginners (cut down on first timer mistakes) and experienced sewists (we'll focus on current patterns and available fabrics).  We have experience across the spectrum of pattern companies and local fabric stores and would love to help you avoid the mismatches we've made.
Skill Level:  All
Fee:  $30
Instructor:  Material Girls (Debbie & Kristin)
Saturday, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., June 13
