Mask Sewing Update! 4-5-20

Thank you to everyone who has helped out our community with mask-making!

Allina is still collecting masks for health care workers, as are most other health care systems. Please make sure the masks you are donating meet the guidelines of the system you are donating to.

The free mask kits provided by Treadle in cooperation with Sew Good Goods are to benefit health care workers. As demand is still so great in health care settings, we respectfully request that if sewing for family and friends, you sew from your stash or purchase additional supplies.

If you pick up one of our free kits, donate those masks!

Looking for a free kit? Use our contact form on our website to give us your email address - we'll add you to our list and notify you about kit availability!

- Use the PATTERN AND DIRECTIONS HERE to sew your masks, or follow the guidelines from the organization you plan to donate to.

- Remember to use 2 different fabrics for the inside and outside - tightly woven 100% cotton for the outside and flannel or other soft cotton for the inside.

From the Blue Cross website:
Where to donate masks
Completed masks can be dropped off at the following locations:
(updated with new facilities on 3/27/2020)
Important note: Donations are still being accepted following the Governor's "Directing Minnesotans to Stay Home" Emergency Executive OrderPlease follow all state-issued guidelines when dropping off masks. Do not, for any reason, go inside any health care facility to drop off your donations. Specific drop-off instructions for each location are included in the linked PDF for that location.
After drop off, the masks will immediately be sent to laundry/processing sites at the individual health facilities to be sanitized for medical use.

My Mask Protects You; Your Mask Protects Me

Treadle will be open 12 - 4 today, Thursday April 2, for mask kit pickup and curbside pickup of phone orders.

Thank you to all of you who are generously donating your time and sewing talents to make masks for health care workers. We have given out close to 300 free mask kits, totaling over 4000 masks. As many of you have been sewing masks from fabric in your “resource center” and recently purchased fabric, I can guess that the total number of masks is easily double or triple that.

Many of you have also generously donated fabric, elastic, and funds. Treadle will continue to provide free mask kits as long as there is a need.

Be like Stitches the Bear - wear your mask!

It is time for all of us to step up in one more important way: wear a mask you have sewn every time you are out in public. Countries that have slowed and stopped the spread have that one important cultural norm in common. You can read how and why here:
