Say what?! How many masks??

We are 6 weeks into Minnesota’s shelter in place. It feels like 6 years. When this started, I am sure you felt like I did: we’ll just hang out for a couple of weeks and certainly by May, everything will go back to the way it was.

May is here. Nothing is the way it was. The one thing that has stayed the same is the generosity of our sewing community.

From one simple request: would you be willing to put together and donate 50 kits to make 28 masks each for health care workers? Sure. Your willingness to step up has kept us with our heads down, cutting fabric and elastic, putting mask kits together as fast as supplies and womanpower will allow. Because of the commitment of Sew Good Goods, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Allina Health, here is what we have accomplished together: kits to make over 15,000 masks have been donated. Wow! Thank you!

The need continues: for health care workers, seniors, those who are vulnerable and the people who work with them. I will ask again. For those who continue to sew masks to donate, kits (each making 14 - 18 masks) are available. We welcome you to stop by and pick up a kit.

Thank you and I look forward to the day when I can thank you in person, maybe while fondling beautiful fabric and plotting a new project.
