Fresh new sewing books

Looking for a practical sewing guide that also comes with hip, unique patterns and projects?  Two books currently at Treadle will satisfy that need, with clear instructions and beautiful photography.

The Colette Sewing Handbook comes from author and designer Sarai Mitnick, creator of the popular line of Colette patterns.  Her design style is fitted, with clean, tailored lines that make a lovely backdrop to the wonderful little details judiciously applied to her garments.  A bow here, a pleat there, never too little or too much.

Gertie's New Book For Better Sewing brings vintage style to modern women.  Who says floral housedresses don't go with tattoos?  Gretchen Hirsch combines elements of retro and modern into a delectably chic look.

Each book outlines fundamental sewing techniques as well as walking you through the projects: dresses, skirts, blouses, and more.  Full-size patterns are included with the books.
