Japanese linen and lawn

We have even more new Japanese fabrics to share with you today, this time a group of linen and smooth cotton lawn.

The cottons often feature whimsical prints like these. Look closely at the trees and you will see the sleepy apples!

But there is plenty on the subtler side, too, like this calm forest print and the abstract styles that follow.

These printed linens are absolutely drool-worthy.

Japanese fabrics: the softer side

One of our favorite Japanese fabrics is cotton double gauze. Airy light and cloudy soft, it makes gorgeous blouses, dresses, little girls' clothes, and more. Here are a few of our favorite new Japanese double gauze prints.

We also have a selection of lighter weight Japanese cottons in various weaves. First a lovely printed seersucker:

This fabric has subtle white thread embroidery under the print.

This adorable cat print is on a soft, lofty, loosely woven cotton.

There's still more to come! Check it out here, or stop by our store!

More new Loominous!

We have more new selections in the store from Anna Maria Horner's Loominous collection. These woven, patterned cottons feature the same kind of wonderful color combinations that Anna Maria has been applying to her cotton prints for years. Some have a little metallic accent thread for extra sparkle!

New Japanese Fabrics!

We have LOADS of amazing new Japanese imports in the store, so much that we'll be splitting them up and featuring them in groups here on the blog. Here's part one: Cotton and cotton/linen canvas prints!

Japanese fabric prints are known for their whimsical side, and our new prints are no exception. Shall we begin with cats parachuting into apple trees?

Then let's move on to deer heads wearing glasses, followed by bears with umbrellas.

It's not all wacky, though. There are a number of elegant floral and foliage prints and bold geometrics.

Keep your eyes on the blog for our next Japanese fabric installment!

Linen Pullover Dress

Here's another great, simple dress for summer weather. Treadlette Rebecca made this sweet pullover dress in soft linen gauze with a charming floral print border. It's loosely fitted with tucks under the bust, and self-fabric ties give a little definition and shape to the waist.

Rebecca used Simplicity 1080, a casual tunic or dress with contrast pockets and colorblocking options. It goes together quick, a bonus when summer is near its end!

Make yourself something comfy! We'll get you started.

A Soft Summer Jacket

Even in the hot summer, you need some good layering pieces. Temperatures can change unexpectedly and air conditioning can sometimes be a little too intense for that strappy sundress. A blousey jacket top like this is perfect.

Treadlette Julia made this from Vogue 8906. Technically described as a top, we thought it could be worn as either a blouse or jacket. Minimal construction and no lining make it lightweight and simple.

Take a closer look at those smart tucks!
